Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid. It is not a filler in the usual sense: it does not add volume on the table. It provokes a controlled healing response, and your own fibroblasts lay down new collagen over the months that follow.
That makes Sculptra a poor choice for anyone who wants to look different on Friday, and an excellent one for anyone who would rather not be asked what they had done. Volume arrives gradually enough that people notice you look well rather than noticing your face.
It is typically dosed as a series — commonly two to four vials over several months at $750 per vial — and the effect builds for roughly two years. Because it works with your own collagen, results depend partly on your biology, and unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, Sculptra cannot be dissolved. That is the trade for its longevity, and it is the reason we are conservative with dosing and spacing.
